Forest fires
We've been smelling smoke since sparrow fart.
There's a bit of a haze on the horizon to the north west so of us so maybe coming from Monts d'Arrée again.
Wherever it is our thoughts are with the brave folk having to deal with it.

Forest fires
I could smell smoke yesterday late afternoon here in 22.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Forest fires
We were with friends 2 days ago and got a whiff of smoke. It turned out to be a fairly serious series of fires about 7 km away. Not sure if the series suggests deliberate action or whether the spread was through airborne embers. Thankfully quickly brought under control but several hectares of forest and farmland damaged.

A bit too close for comfort
Edit to add: In case you missed it, the plane just left of centre is a Canadair.

Forest fires
I assume you meant E Char.
After this mornings storm - 2-3 hours of heavy rain, things feel very safe.
The fire was about 5km away by road so probably 3.5km as the embers fly. The wind was not blowing towards us but winds can quickly change direction so there was no guarantee that it would not reach us.
Anyway, all safe now. Thanks.

Forest fires
One of the problems being while heavy downpours will extinguish the flames, the peaty subsurface keeps smouldering.
Keep safe everyone.
