My lovely moment was not in the garden but in the bidet.

I rinsed it with cold water prior to use and was surprised to see a small black spider shoot out of the inflow and swirl around before managing to get a foothold on the side and drag itself out of the water. I carefully placed my finger below him and flicked, intending him to be shot out of the basin, but instead he fell back in the remains of the flow and disappeared down the plughole.
Sadly I closed the plug but then saw him halfway out, opened it and he crawled out. I tried to encourage him onto my finger, but he wouldn't take the lifeline. Finally I got him to crawl on a bit of toilet paper and he was safely deposited outside.
Now don't go telling me that, as a house spider, he won't survive out there. I dare to believe.
