MTs disappearing fast

#11 Post by Lori »

Not sure what I would have done about the rude couple. At least they weren't Americans - this time.

On a similar note, as we are moving, we are looking for an MT in the new region. So far, I have contacted 3 different clinics (each having from 3 to 6 MT's in their group(s). None are accepting new patients. I will now have to delve further out. It is really kind of scary. Interesting thing is there are PLENTY of doctors in the region. I'll just have to keep picking up the phone and calling.

Feel better Liz.

I can only assume that, like the UK, if you want quick efficient medical help in certain locations you need to flash the cash. State subsidised health services are on the way out.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

I read somewhere that if you cannot find a MT who will accept new patients you can contact Amelie who will find one for you. I can’t vouch for the veracity

I think you could be right. I haven't yet called the doctors who don't accept the Carte Vital / sector 2. I have a feeling those will be more inclined to take new patients. Of course, I could be wrong.

Lying injured on the street and "flashing the cash" is more likely to get you mugged whilst awaiting an NHS ambulance.

But I do think it is getting to the point where someone needs to look at more successful medical systems than the NHS and see what is different - and insurance may be part of the solution.

However, there are other issues entirely the fault of the government - the pensions cap being one I have mentioned before that has pushed the most senior doctors out of the NHS.

Finding a dentist may be even more difficult than an MT, Lori.

[/quote] Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that NI contributions were, inter alia, health insurance?

I don't wish to burst any bubbles but the I in NI - the payment system whereby medical assistance is free at the point of use - stands for "Insurance".

The system is sound.
The funding is suspect.
The rewards for those in the NHS are patently too low.
The link into post hospital care is now only beginning to dawn on those who were supposed to be guardians of the system.

Rather than invent another new system, fix the issues.
If that means some have to pay more - increase the contributions.

The concept that we can all get what we always had but pay less and less each General Election is something that has to change.

And does anyone really believe it is hypothecated - any more than CRDS has reduced the debts in France?
