Broken heart
Wednesday I have to attend the clinic and have some sort of electric shock to bring my heartbeat back in sync, believe me I am not looking forward to it, anyone else had it done?

Not personally but my brother in law has. I think the worry about it is worse than the actual intervention. Good luck, you'll be in safe hands.

I know nothing about the procedure, but I can totally relate to the pre-procedure stress. I find I suffer so much stress prior to any medical intervention, by the time the appointment arrives, I've resigned myself to whatever happens.... I also try to tell myself, I'll be home in two hours or whatever the timeframe may be.
Hope all goes smoothly and you're home quickly thereafter.

Two people I knew were recently taken in to the main hospital here, both suffered cardiac arrests, whilst in there, thankfully I am going elsewhere. They seem more helpful, the secretary spoke perfect English, the consent forms, as on would expect, were all in French, but medical terms are pretty standard so easy to tick the right box. So wait for the ambulance to take me there on Wednesday.

Sadly people suffer cardiac arrests in hospital, that doesn’t mean they received poor or negligent care,it means they are ill

Must admit one of them was in his 90's and type 1, didn't have a lot going for him. Albeit even the locals call this local hospital the abattoir.

Been there 3 times. It's like having a cardiogram, they stick connectors on all over your chest and on each ankle. They give you a general anesthetic so you pop out for a very short while while the shove a few joules of power into the connectors. You know and feel nothing. The film crap of big paddles and shouts of stand back are total fiction. I've had my irregular tickker now for 12 years or more ,I don't even notice it. I just hate to keep taking the anticoagulants and the morsels of beta blockers that are supposed to keep me calm and not get excited, (they don't seem to work).

Erm .... a defibrillator isn't quite the same. And if you don't stand back, you risk getting a nasty shock !Polarengineer wrote: ↑Sun Jan 15, 2023 11:02 am The film crap of big paddles and shouts of stand back are total fiction.
