They live in a village about 10 minutes away but would find seeing him too painful. However, they would be happy to have news of him.
I understand how they feel : when I had to give up riding due to back problems, I sold my beautiful mare to someone near Rennes. She said I could always come and see her, but it would be too difficult. However, I do hear news of her and she seems vey happy, which is what matters.

Rafal arrived yesterday evening for a 3 day trial. We all had a good night's sleep and we're taking him for a session with the behaviourist (a condition of having the dog). We've never taken a dog to a behaviourist before. It's something apparently anyone can set themselves up as, it's uncontrolled officially and a lot of dogs end up behaving far worse as a result of pretty brutal treatment by so-called trainers.

So far, he seems a perfectly "normal" dog to us. OH has gone for a physio's appointment and Rafal is a bit stressed but once he's with us permanently things should settle down.

He found a Super U giveaway football in a shed .... it lasted about 5 minutes ....

Excellent news.
Rafal needs a Jumball https://www.amazon.fr/GiGwi-Jumball-moy ... B077Z5JFV2.
It's the only ball our Bob couldn't destroy. He loved it & carried it around by the handle.

@L Austin France That's brilliant and exactly what we need ! It's a good colour too, easily seen in the grass.
We've never had just one young dog on it's own so it's a new experience. He certainly loves to play ......

Very much so, Veem ! He's adorable.
However, this is as much a trial run for him and us as it is for the owners : they will have these 3 days to reflect on whether they have made the right decision to re-home him.
We are praying very hard ...... 🙏
He understood the tunnel in 30 seconds flat !!

We've got to take Rafal back in less than an hour 😭
His owners should have had time to decide whether they are making a mistake in wanting to re-home him .... We haven't the slightest doubt that he would be happy with us - he seems to have settled in easily and made himself quite at home.
We can only hope that they don't want to take the risk of another "accident" with a child not respecting his space ....
