Maybe the answer is to equip all armed Police with bodycams - and maybe issue some with tasers instead of firearms?

Hopefully, an unbiased and sane enquiry will examine such issues.

UK policing have body cams and they have made a big difference,the laughable part is that the people who campaigned for them now protest against them as they didn’t quite have the anticipated results
I am a big fan of taser although I heard of an incident a few months ago where someone was zapped 6 times with no effect,he surrendered when firearms arrived and were clearly prepared to use them,however another incident a PC I Know said had he not had a taser he would have been dead because the guy wouldn’t have stopped til that was the result

I have no sympathy with the protesters at all when they loot and vandalise. As one shopkeeper who was a victim said "I am sorry for the lad who was shot but what has that got to do with my business".
Stupidity and I hope that the ones who have been arrested get long jail sentences.

Wilful destruction, stealing, there's no justification for such behaviour.
Many innocent people are suffering from these appalling actions. I doubt most of the protesters give a stuff about the lad who was shot and are using his death as a pretext for going on their violent and destructive rampage.

The problem for the government is how to solve the problem. The police can't cope, neither can the courts and the jails are already overflowing.

This now has little to do with the death of a kid with a record a mile long but is being orchestrated by troublemakers and the drug gangs of which France has more than its share. School holidays start this weekend which means that large numbers will not be moving to and from educational establishments and should therefore be in no danger. Some will also be going away. But they are now free to get involved in the rioting.
One can be sure that the German, Dutch and Belgian troublemakers are now heavily involved as are the Black Blocks and anarchists whose whole aim is to cause mayhem and attack the police.

According to the family avocat, he had no record, but according to the police he had 15 convictions, including 4 for 'failing to stop' (per TF1), hence my previous remarks. Not quite a record as long as yer arm, mais quand même.

It's grim looking at the damage and mindless violence from last night and another night to come.
Businesses ruined , lives made even more difficult for those on small incomes that have lost their cars. And life even more intolerable for those in the poorer areas that try to survive.
The cost of putting it all right will fall, I guess on the taxpayers, which will not affect the perpetrators or their parents who may well be on benefits (perhaps a sweeping statement).
I know more violence against this isn't the answer in the longterm, but I hope there will be some increase in the severity of the response against those involved.
