How have the floods been near you?

There is more water than usual around me.

I'm not aware of any floods anywhere near us, thank dog. The last time I remember significant floods in 87 was in '91 - Saint Yrieix and Aixe sur Vienne.

Thank goodness the rain has let up here. Still gray and cloudy today, but yesterday was gorgeous and sunny. It was SO nice to be outside again.

Still, the Vezere was flowing at a mighty speed yesterday.

I spent three wet days camping at St Leon Sur Vezere in July. The river level rose considerably during that time.

Rain has finally stopped here in 22 so I'll be out with my head under a bonnet trying to repair a non-starter and then as a reward I can then resume filling a trailer with storm debris ready for another tip run tomorrow.

TF1 news said that the flooding and huge amount of rainfall in many places was not connected to climate change ....
One positive thing is that the nappe phréatique over most of France has risen - levels in the north-west are back to "normal".

Living near a big river and/or its tributaries is not without risk, but rain can cause landslips on higher ground ....

In the Pas de C., bl**dy awful; bridges closed, villages and homes flooded ( 15 in this to little village alone), folk being bailed out by the pompiers and civil defence, streams turned into torrents, many many hectares flooded. And in my front garden was and is a layer of nasty, sticky red mud.
Teams of volunteer villagers going round trying to clean houses, rescue pets and livestock.
The local pharmacy has been completely flooded with water so deep round about that they cannot ever reach the building. A new medical practice, just opened,was built at least a metre above ground to guard against flooding but again cannot be approached because the flood water round about is just less than a metre deep.
