UK attendance allowance

According to a medical specialist here who worked in Paris until recently, 80% of psychiatric cases in Paris are foreigners/asylum seekers/refugees whatever you might like to call them, and not French nationals. It's unsurprising with people who have been uprooted, fled from war, and the psy services are completely overwhelmed. And unsurprisingly most are from sub Saharan Africa.

Even here in Saint-Malo, which isn't a large town, a huge influx of refugees etc has put extra strain on the medical services which were already understaffed in many fields. We also know from the social services that some of the Ukrainians that are here are Russian sympathisers but they have also lost everything, fled war, had their homes destroyed etc.
It seems that refugees who manage to get to Europe must have had the means to pay the people smugglers though for many it would have been everything they had, or relatives who stayed behind but wanted their children to have what they perceived to be a better life.

Apologies, Hughnique .... I've strayed from your original question !

The information I think you refer to comes direct from the government websites supplied above. I think people need to get a grip on these loose terms such as "refugee" and "asylum seekers"

You seem to have added your own spin on the information given on the government webpage as you have made clear in the following sentence. Thank you for making your feelings crystal clear, I’m now even more sure that I was right about the newspapers you believe.

Major thread drift, but as the water looks warm (pun not intended! ), I'm going to jump in! :D

I was really cross with Mme May referring to any Brits now living abroad as "Citizens of Nowhere" - Well, now I've come to quite like the phrase, although I don't think I'll be shortening it to go on a tee shirt any time soon .... " C O N"

On the subject of migration - haven't humans being doing this since the dawn of time? The desire to live somewhere other than your birth country, for whatever reason? I'll get my coat ....... 8-)

Yes, people have migrated due to, oppression - dictatorial leadership, religious persecution but also due to starvation.
In the distant past, conditions became more and more difficult in northern Europe which drove starving populations south .... eventually leading to the fall of Rome. It's actually a bit more complicated than that, but an interesting period in history.

I like the "C O N" - think I might adopt that one  I wonder if Mrs May knew about it and had a silent snigger  !

have been in Great Britain for at least 2 of the last 3 years (this does not apply if you’re a refugee or have humanitarian protection status)
Taken direct from gov website, what spin I have applied to that is a mystery to me, I don't take a newspaper, so have hardly been influenced by that, it clearly states that the residency rules are circumvented if you are a refugee. I honestly have no master plan to alleviate the situation but feel sure it all has to stop before England sinks under the weight of the increasing population. Most of these banana republics were better of under colonial rule, at least law and order were maintained and the place was administered by someone other than a jumped up despot

So spleens vented, perhaps you should look at your own situation and see if the French might on occasion have parallel views about us.

Despite an excellent health service there are shortages.

So in a rural area, your taking a doctor's appointment might stop a French person from taking that slot. Indeed in some areas being registered stops a French person from registering.
Or ophthalmic appointments which are equally difficult to arrange.

Or don't these count because they are within the rules?

Yet again the thread is going off at a tangent, I have not mentioned anything about doctors appointments, or indeed ophthalmic services. I have commented on the fact that someone I know, is returning to the UK, after having been here for a few years, before that paying in 30 plus years of NI and income tax only to be informed that he must wait 2, possibly 3 years, before he can claim attendance allowance. Nothing to do with Albanians living in 5 star hotels and eating steak everyday. It seems a bit contradictory that having claimed Attendance allowance in the UK it is quite admissible to continue to claim it here in France. Again yes if it is within the rules then it is acceptable IMHO. Returning briefly to the Albanian situation, I must have missed the news on the day that war broke out there and thousands of young men were displaced and headed for the UK to seek refuge.

Like many things it may not be as black and white as it may be being portrayed:

I notice it says on that link that you "may" have to pass one of the following tests, residency and the past presence, being separated, so it might be that if you can prove that you intend to resettle in the UK and it again becomes your permanent abode then there might be a chance of claiming it.
