Trump found guilty .....

#11 Post by MAD87 »

I followed the jury selection and trial in hospital, avidly. There were some interesting legal questions surrounding the trial, which made it fascinating. He's bound to appeal - anything else will appear as acceptance of the verdict. It could well be overturned on appeal, which will ensure at least that he has to put his hands in his pockets again. I hope his lawyers insisted on money up front!
He faces 3 other trials...

The only thing that will stop that swine is a fast moving lead projectile, and there are plenty of those in the hands of the average American.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

The judge denied him the right to appeal; that can of course be appealed.

Of course, he now cannot vote where he is resident as convicted felons do not have the vote in Florida.

I thought the judge denied a motion to acquit - not deny an appeal.

As for Florida, on radio it was suggested as there is not an equivalent felony in Florida to what he was convicted of, he may still be able to vote.

That is correct. He will appeal.

As to voting, here is the word:

"Florida’s felon voting prohibitions apply to people with out-of-state convictions. However, if a Floridian’s conviction is out of state, Florida defers to that state’s laws for how felon can regain their voting rights.

In New York, thanks to a 2021 law, people with felony convictions regain their right to vote once they finish their term of incarceration – even if they are still subject to parole. That means Trump would only be denied his right to vote in Florida if he is serving a prison sentence for the Manhattan conviction at the time of the election."

Agree. However, the majority of gun owners in the U.S. back Trump. So, unless a loony gets hold of a gun - and we know that is pretty easy in the U.S. - and decides he wants to go down in a hail of glory by shooting someone famous - not likely to happen.

He'll just pardon himself when he gets re-elected.
