198 before the Presidential elections in France

#1 Post by Biloute »

In 2017, something unusual happened in our country : the French elected the candidate (among 11) of a very young party. Macron had indeed created the party La République en Marche only 1 year before. He had understood that people had enough of all the old parties and it paid as he was elected…
We will vote for a new President in April 2022.
We might have even more candidates this time … The campaign has already started and it promises to be fierce with no loyalty or elegance !
Less and less people bother to vote because they consider that all the main candidates lie in their programs and will have about the same policy at the end of the day, with little room for the well-being of people. In addition, all will submit to Brussels anyway ! On top of that, except the extremes, all the parties are divided internally and struggle to choose the candidate who could have good chances.
In 2022, something special might happen… Eric Zemmour, a journalist, kicked the anthill. He has not yet officially declared himself a candidate and has no party, but, in a few weeks in the polls, he already has reached 11% (and growing daily). He terrorizes all the old politicians who start to copy his speeches. And journalists subject to Macron seek all means to discredit him, even if it means inventing affairs when they do not find any true one.
We might have a permanent show for the next 198 days ! :D
Demain est le premier des jours qu'il nous reste à vivre: profitons-en ! :D

Interesting times on their way. Will the Macron experience prove a plus or a minus for Zemmour?

I thought Edouard Philippe might present himself as a candidate but he has confirmed he will support M. Macron

Watched Valerie Pecresse the Soyon Libres candidate en direct on F2 last night and was very impressed - The debate between her and Darmanin was particularly intelligent, relevant and respectful. Let's see if some of the Republican male ego can lift itself out of the misogynistic gutter and give a woman an equal opportunity at representing France.

I can't see any woman having an "equal chance"! I don't like VP, much less MLP, and as for Hidalgo, jeepers just don't ask. I'm disappointed the lovely Ed isn't standing this time, but I hope he'll actively campaign for Manny. I won't howeverr make up my tiny mind until just before the 1st round - as Wilson said, a week is a long time in politics. There'll be plenty of choice though, with all the usual suspects standing + a few new(ish) ones.

She didn't say where she would find the money... Will it be more national debt or more taxes for the taxpayers (who already pay a lot in France) ?
And, if she does that, everybody else will want the same !!! As her former husband (F. Hollande) said one day: " no worry, it's the government which pays !"

That's the problem : the assumption that "the state will pay" without taking into account that the money will have to be found .... from the tax payers' pockets ...
