There she was, rolling down the street, she looked good, she looked fine. Baby come closer....lean almost on my shoulder.

Snappin' her fingers and shufflin' her feet
Revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night…..

One of my first teachers had something similar except that it was not as luxurious.
It had two doors with tubular steel and canvas seats.
# that was a long time ago. It seems that it probably had four doors. I remember her giving me a lift to school. I sat in the front next to her.

1963 Peugeot 404, driving one of the coolest 60's French cars. No, not the Peugeot 403.

Surprise this afternoon, only two days after I had a close encounter with a Deux Chevaux in showroom condition. A friend of mine came along, Bruno, an excellent audio and video engineer, to pick up a box of vinyl records, classical music. He arrived in his new car, bought yesterday. A 2CV AZ from 1959 with the famous suicide front doors, screen wipers energized by the bowden cable to the speedometer, little fuel pump with lever. Lacking: the rubber hoses from cylinder heads to interior, air to air heating. Airco: open the roof.

Live music, the sound of the fifties and sixties.

A friend of mine, now in the Ardèche, sent me two pictures of a nice looking Juvaquatre Dauphinoise (1937-1960) Estimated price: between 7K and 9K. Next in line was the Renault 4 (1961-1992). No infotainment system, no streamline, form follows function. Not in a museum, rural France, where the sun shines brightly.

To another region of Europe, Thüringen in Germany, where I just saw a tractor produced from 1986-1996 by the Minsk Tractor Works in Belarus. Type: the Belarus 920, not a real classic, already with a turbo, but I've never seen it before. Blue sky by the way, no rain.

A 'Trabi' in its original habitat. In use for delivery service, not a special collectors car. In Schmalkalden, about 180 km from its birthplace (Zwickau).

Trabant?
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Yes, official name is Trabant. In the German Democratic Republic / East Germany / DDR the nickname was 'trabi'. For almost thirty years in production. All those years with a very smoky two-stroke engine.
