Oh so sad, I thought Prunella Scales would go before him. He was a wonderful actor and supported her through her illness.

A superb actor in so many roles over the years. The canal boat tv series filmed over 10 years was also superb, as he and his wife, Prunella Scales, spent time on their hobby, travelling along canals.
He and Prunella obviously loved that and each other, shown in their exchanges and the care he took of her as they coped with her dementia, which they coped with during the last 20 years of their 60 years of marriage.
