Blossom is fab this year
If I get a chance, I will get a picture of walnut trees in blossom. Ours are still bare and they are the last to break bud. The first of the plums are just producing blossom, apples, pears, cherries etc to follow so could be a good 3-4 weeks before the walnut does anything - but as I have posted before, we are a long way behind others.

Blossom is fab this year
Well of course you can call it green washing, but screening industrial complexes with trees does actually improve the local environment and many industries do genuinely care for their local environment and often set aside funds for local projects outside of the boundary. Most of the workers as well as many managers live in the neighbourhood. If the neighbourhood is that little bit nicer it makes for a happier working team

Well I promised to explain my comments about walnut and their blossom.
So here is our walnut tree in blossom Ignore any white blossom which is the adjacent cherry tree.
To all intents and purposes nothing seems to be going on until you close in

Blossom is fab this year
Our apple trees are a lovely picture of blosdom.
A huge surprise is that the big one which fell in strong winds in September when laden with the biggest crop of apples in our 40+ years living here is carrying a lot of blossom. Some of the roots are still in the ground but most are lying on the soil; a huge amount of branches had to be removed and what is left used to be the top of the tree and is now facing the house.
The lilac is also looking splendid, much more blossom than usual. I have two big vases full in the house and although the scent is faint, it’s not as cloying as it can be on the bush.
Down the garden it looks as though it’s been snowing - our neighbours’ pear trees are losing their blossom very quickly.
