How to stay in tune with the season? Joana Maria, 22, actress, she likes vintage clothing, fleamarkets and street style. A picture in the German press today.

Sorry but I gave you false info on the walnut blossom. The cone like structures are in fact the developing male catkins. This is the same branch that I showed in the original picture.exile wrote: ↑Wed Apr 23, 2025 12:59 pm Well I promised to explain my comments about walnut and their blossom.
So here is our walnut tree in blossom

Ignore any white blossom which is the adjacent cherry tree.
To all intents and purposes nothing seems to be going on until you close in

These almost pine cone structures are the female flowers
The female flowers are even less conspicuous - the pale structures with damsel fly
Shows how much I (don't) know about my own trees - although no obvious blossom is apparent.

Gorgeous!
I have no climbers here, but I'd love to use our French nuclear-bomb-proof washing line, but OH loves it

A several years ago I planted a small passion flower brought from the Charente. I let it go nuts to hide my workshop/laundry room outbuilding that is in a sorry state in need of repointing. Today it is well engulfed with blooms and may well bear fruit. Murphy's law, I have finally found someone to come and do the repointing so it will have to get butchered next month to allow access.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.
