And so it goes on
It is open knowledge that we have our house on the market, and one of the main sell asap is the apparatus for the koi pond as well as the fish, koi carp, I advertised several items on Leboncoin and received an enquiry from someone local regarding a air pump. He came and bought said item and showed an interest in several of the larger koi, which he wanted to buy, I purchased a childs paddling pool which I sorted yesterday and managed to catch one of the koi he wanted, put it into the temporary pool, sent him a message that I had one and could he collect asap. Last night we had visitors, must have been after midnight as I checked on the fish before retiring, this morning some bastard has nicked the fish plus 3 air pumps, plus other bits and pieces. I am 100% sure it must be the man that bought the first air pump, I have had no other enquiries and the actual address is not known only to him. Gendarmes made a pliant but am unsure as to what they can do, he let it slip that he works at Bricodepot in Saumur, but on Leboncoin he just gives an alias so we don't know his real name. Felling a bit bloody useless at the moment.

That's really sh1tty, hughnique. I hope the gendarmes catch him.
Btw, have you tried greenacres for selling? We sold our last house through them.

Subsequent inspection shows another air pump gone 2 large pieces of butyl liner, and at least 6 of the best koi. I just do not know how they have actually caught them the pond is 2 metres deep, and 5x7 metres plenty of room for them to swim away??

That's awful, hughnique
They probably came armed with a huge net, or some sort of aspirateur to "hoover" them up. Must have been well prepared.
Have a look in Bricodepot in Saumur and see if you can see him. Don't approach him if you do see him but find out who he is ....
That said, he might work "out back" so you may not see him.

There doesn't seem to be any enthusiasm by the police, they should have said meet one of our officers at Brico and see if you can see him, the other thing is he has a couple of items for sale on Le bon coin, so it would be possible for me to get an address by posing as a potential buyer but I think he would recognise the google translation as bein a foreigner and tell me it is not available. Then a French mate has let me down this afternoon as he was coming to the gendarmerie with me to give them the additional items, we are on the edge now wondering if a return visit is planned, there is one massive fish in there that he wanted, means one of us will have to sit up with the pick axe handle in tow.

Is your place easy to access ? Do you have a gate you can shut/bar etc ? How about putting a car across the entrance ?
Outside lights ??
If you do see them, rather than confront them, which could be dangerous, film them so at least you can get a description. A car registration number would be useful as well if you could sneak round and get it without being seen.
What about laying some trip wires with a sack of potatoes on the end ! Actually, trip wires all over the ground/entrance would get them cursing and swearing !
Can you move the big fish somewhere else overnight ?
Realistically, the chances of them coming back are very small, unless the big fish is worth a lot of money. They know you'll be on the look out and no thief wants to get caught.

I agree and such good ideas Blaze.
Do be on the lookout for anyone casing the place as if they really want to return, they may spy on you and wait until they see you leave to pounce.

When this scroat came to my house he showed me a picture on his phone, and I noticed an entry on there of a koi outlet, following that lead I visited the koi shop about an hour from me, sods law it was closed but the owner came out and started conversing with us, I told him the story of the theft and he said did I know what car, yes, did I have a name, and I informed him that the sale was initiated on Leboncoin, and you don't necessarily put your details on there, all I had was a pseudonym JV, without any hesitation he said Julien Very, then asked me did I have Nexus filters on my pond, well yes, as this Julien had offered him my filters. These had not even been advertised at that time, and still have not. Then the owner asked me to keep my source of information quiet, that is not to mention him. He must have gone straight back in and contacted this JV as when I got home an hour later there was a message from JV telling me he had had contact from the koi shop owner and that he was not responsible for the theft. It beggars belief the web of intrigue and stupid mistakes these 2 are making, as it has now put the Koi shop owner in the frame as being involved.
