Rather than obliging people to be vaccinated, making life increasingly more difficult for those who refuse vaccination has to be the better option.

I question the accuracy of 'home' LFT, as in general we're unlikely to put ourselves through the same discomfort as someone else doing it.

LFTs are indeed not very reliable; there is also concern that dropping sequencing will make it more difficult to identify & track new variants.

Prior to the new rules allowing doing LF at home I had to do a PCR at home in August - so I guess same issue applies regarding how far you go to take a sample.

As I recall there were three possible results - Clear / Got it / Not enough material gathered to test.

Having said that, there seems to be an issue of false negatives - particularly if you have other symptoms and not the standard nasal-pharyngeal symptoms.

My friend has not yet been vaccinated on the advice of her MT. She has several complex medical conditions. She was due to have Jansen this week, but it got cancelled. I’m hoping she is getting it tomorrow. The doctor she spoke to at the vaccination centre admitted to her that he hadn’t been vaccinated!
If she can’t get the J vaccine, I’m suggesting that she gets her MT to write her an ordonnance for tests.
She is incredibly careful and has spent many months in self-isolation poor thing.

No doubt those who can't be vaccinated or have to wait a while (the case of my 2 sons) won't be penalised. The full bells and whistles test costs the govt (us) a fortune.
