I never thought I'd say this, but Le Pen got it right when she said:

"Only in France does a football club's victory spark riots."

"Only in France does everyone feel compelled to lock themselves in their homes on the evening of a victory to avoid being confronted with violence," she said.

At one point during extra time, OH (not a sports fan) asked me why it wasn't finished yet, so I explained (simply). I added that the result wouldn't really matter to the PSG "fans" as, whatever, they'd smash up Paris anyway....

Things might change if PSG (instead of the taxpayer) was presented with the total bill for policing and vandalism.

I can’t comprehend why taxpayers should have to pay for such events - I guess victory riots would still happen if clubs had to be responsible for such costs, but they could afford insurance premiums to cover damage from their great wealth.

Know what, the guys n girls in our local football team are great as are their supporters. They'll all arrive at the local BDS after a match and everyone is in a happy place together - winners or losers. I just don't get what goes on.
