I just hope no French teams make the finals next year. Also normally I'd be rooting for France in the world cup but not now. Who knows what would happen if they won it?

Agreed, but who knows whether the vandalism would be worse after winning or losing ? The fans are very insistent that it's not them that are trashing everything ...

I agree, but it's time to force the clubs to sort the wheat from the chaff. If they're willing to pay 150m for 1 player, they can pay for the damage, or have their matches played au huit clos. They'll soon do something!

I'm not into football at all, but the first year we were here it was the 2006 world cup final france v italy, and somebody had setup a large tv in the salle polyvalente, se we thought we would be sociable and go to watch, its not a big commune but the hall was packed, every time france made a good move the whole hall erupted, when the italians made a good move the were none of the shouts of fluke, he was lucky, boos or such disaproving noises, that i would expect in an english pub, everyone clapped apreciatively giving credit to a good play.
A friend now in her 70s was trained as a football referee, not major but local match level, gave up refereeing in the uk becouse of all the abuse she used to get from the players and supporters, after she moved to france with her husband 30+ years ago, she happened to let slip while talking to friends in a local bar, that she had been a referee in the uk, one of them who ran a local team asked if she could referee for them, as there was a lack of referees in the area, reluctently she did, and soon got a reputation as being a firm but fair referee, and was in demand from various teams in the area, and caried on refereeing for several years, and enjoyed every minute of it, she was respected by both players and suporters, and none of the abuse, that made her give up in the uk.
