She’s gone
My feline friend Follie went over the rainbow bridge yesterday.
I knew it was time but it was still so hard to let her go.
She was a good age for a French country cat -16.
She had until recently been lively, hunted, enjoyed lolling about on my car and ate well but about 3 weeks ago things changed.
She started to hide, didn’t want to eat (and I tried everything) was losing weight and fur. To start with I thought it was the hotter weather.
She’s not a cuddle cat and is very difficult to handle as the vet will confirm after she bit him and trashed his surgery a few months ago. It was only last week that I noticed a little wound on her lower lip. It could have been an abscess but it wasn’t.
I took her to my vet yesterday and he tranquillised her to inspect her mouth. She had a massive tumour on one side of her mouth. It was horrible and must have been really painful. He thought she probably had about a week left so the decision was made.
My OH is bereft. She was our 7th cat. We won’t have any more.

My condolences.
We had a much loved moggy go the same way.
Always sad to see them go but part of loving them is making the right decision for them when the time comes.

Mycondolences, Headers. Letting an animal go is very hard but as LAF says, it's often the kindest thing.

So sorry Headers. As others have said, it is so very hard to let them go, but we cannot let them suffer. She was a beauty.

Our pets are with us for such a short time and letting them go is always horribly hard. But it's the kindest thing we can do for them at the end. They'll always be there in our hearts.

My sympathies Headers having gone through the same recently. It's amazing how they leave such a big hole when they are gone.

Oh dear we so feel for you and your OH and 16 years of love is a long time and Follie would know that she was loved. But you know if another furry thing arrives at your door you know you wont turn it away. We know this from experience - we're on our fourth one that and each time we've said never again.
With this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never be empty, for I will be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way into darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine.........The Corpse Bride

My condolences, Headers. Our son’s two cats were staying with us here last week. They were picked up again last night. And yet our house feels empty this morning. Less empty than last year, when our last cat, Mickey, passed away at the age of 23. A sturdy French country cat whose chances of survival were initially thought to be slim after his birth...

Headers, I’m so sorry for the loss of your beautiful Follie, parting is so hard when you’ve loved for so long. You must have some lovely memories of your time together.
