Weather ... again

38° here at the moment and set to rise. I spent last night on a sofa in the sitting room not very comfortable as it's only a two seater but it was far less hot at 85 f than upstairs at 93 f.

We've just spent the last 10 days at Hellfest, Europe's biggest rock/metal festival, near Nantes. The temperatures were in the high 30s and up to 42°C. We were there as first aiders and we were run off our feet. The heat was very intense and we had a lot of victims with heat-related malaises. We were on Alerte Rouge and part of that means the bars at the festival were only allowed to sell a limited amount of alcohol.
It's not quite so hot here(we got back today) but we will avoid going out until it cools down.

Down to a relatively 'cool' 31C st 2200h

Down to 33C at 23.15h Normandy, 10 km from Pont Audemer. Sat quietly in the garden, little breeze, listening to all sorts of birds. Our gîte is a very, very, very fine gîte and also two cats in the yard.

Only got down to 36C at bedtime last night but is a lovely 25C right now. 41C forecast again today.

OH (who doesn't seem to feel the heat) has ordered an air con unit, so things must be bad. We're facing our third day of a forecast 41° and the cat has taken up permanent residence sprawled on the kitchen table. I might join hm tonight.
30° is my ideal temperature, so I'm looking forward to next weekend.
If it doesn't coool down soon, I'm emigrating to the Aran isllands...

You know well the conditions we had to work in .... I'm just sorry we didn't get to meet up. Most of us didn't get enough sleep - I was lucky to get 3 hours in over 24 hours as we kept getting woken up to transport a victim. As it was, the 6 hour shift pattern we did never allowed much rest. It was no easier sleeping at night than in the day - our caravan was like a furnace
But I slept like a baby last night at home
