It's a shame that all we see now are the sponsored teams at the front but it's the same with so many sports these days : Advertising and money.
It must be pretty gruelling in that heat. Like you, I enjoy the scenery and the architecture and history of the different regions. However, I'm glad they've stopped that awful organ music every time they showed a church !

Sponsored teams at the front?
They are all sponsored and have been since I started watching the race a long time ago.
The question was often who exactly are the sponsors and what do they do commercially.
Todays winner (not mainstream) - Decathlon - who I suspect we all know are into sportswear and equipment
and
CMA CMG - who many may not recognise but is a container shipping line.
