Closing a bank account???

#11 Post by Polly »

Polar Engineer said, “ Subsequently I have pre-warned them of any large transactions about to land in our account.”

We also have done that and it was mentioned by a member of staff the next time I went in, so the proceeds from the sale of our apartment were expected whether or not our notaire was quick off the mark with the transfer.

Closing a bank account???

Without prewarning a transfer from Monsieur le Notaire landed in our CA account. No problems, no questions asked. Transferring from our account to an account outside France but within the EU - SEPA area - took almost six weeks, around August last year. Only relatively small transfers allowed, each taking several days of CA approval procedures....step-by-step. Things are getting better now, finally they have to conform to EU regs.

Closing a bank account???

We had fun and games with CA trying to transfer business and private accounts from our previous branch when we moved to Oradour, then trying to cancel business virements when we retired and closed thee business. The then manager next door assured us he'd do his best, but it was difficile. Why? Dog knows! I eventually offered to write to the big boss of CA, which seemed to resut in all employees buzzing around like blue-arsed flies . I've since opened a personnal account with Caisse d'épargne and left the joys of CA to OH.

And still it drags on no movement after a week of "ready to go", no reply from the English speaking line who are supposed to be assisting me, bet it would be a different matter if I was opening a bank account. Typical French way of customer service, something I do not miss.
