It seems that it is, for you, now forbidden to launch a debate of ideas if it does not correspond to your way of thinking ! The punishment for daring to do so is to be labeled immediately as a far-right fascist, anti-feminist, homophobic, transphobic, racist. Like the majority of French people, I am white and heterosexual: so what, is it a sin ? Should I apologize ? From my point of view, minorities have the right to live peacefully but not the right to try to convert the majority to their views. For me, the fact, for a government, of trying to seduce all minorities in order to obtain their votes to the detriment of the well-being of the whole population is a serious mistake!

Things have to change with the times in a civilised country - otherwise Women would still be second class citizens and Children would be working in factories and being sent up chimneys etc.

Can we also remember to debate what has actually been written - I don't want members being upset because things have started to get personal. Thanks

And [mention]Char[/mention] Depends how you define civilised. When the faults you mention were 'normal' perhaps those countries should not be considered civilised. But the pendulum swings and the new normal is shown in the comments made about Biloute and Wilbro. Discussion and disagreement is fine, but should not descend into insult.

Definitely history, when relevant, should be remembered.
Last night I duly watched the two episodes of the new FRENCH documentary "Apocalypse Hitler attacks the east" transmitted by France 3. An excellent two hours, all in colour, with some extraordinary film clips. Leningrad, Kiev, Moscow, Stalingrad, Koursk the key names to remember.
Thought, it was only after the retreat from Moscow that Hitler declared war on the U. S. A.

We've been watching that too - excellent stuff and coloured film really brings it to life. It's interesting to see the war from a different persepctive (French as opposed to British or American).
