I am not getting involved only to say that no one learns from history.

I will also buy these new epidodes when they are available on DVDs ... Until then: the replay tonight !!!
This series is really well done. It's real history, telling facts, not like school programs in France which increasingly aim to manipulate children's opinions ...
Thank you for this information ! I had bought all the DVDs of the first series and watched them at least 3/4 times ...

Biloute Who said anything about you being forbidden from expressing your views - think l may have touched a raw nerve to get such a reaction. Of course you are entitled to write what you want but please don't expect others not to challenge what you say - that, surely is the fabric of democratic debate or don't you accept that premise?Biloute wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 1:37 pm @OldblueraincoatIt seems that it is, for you, now forbidden to launch a debate of ideas if it does not correspond to your way of thinking ! The punishment for daring to do so is to be labeled immediately as a far-right fascist, anti-feminist, homophobic, transphobic, racist. Like the majority of French people, I am white and heterosexual: so what, is it a sin ? Should I apologize ? From my point of view, minorities have the right to live peacefully but not the right to try to convert the majority to their views. For me, the fact, for a government, of trying to seduce all minorities in order to obtain their votes to the detriment of the well-being of the whole population is a serious mistake!Oldblueraincoat wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 11:25 am This is beginning to look an awful lot like another politically motivated thread - So if its not Macron let me think who the OP might consider we look at as a Saviour of France? - Asking for a friend![]()
I must say l have no problem with you being white or any colour for that matter and as for your sexual orientation it really is nobody's business but your own - I think you'll agree freedom of choice is such a wonderful thing.

I think that apologising for something that you had no control overOldblueraincoat wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 12:39 am 30 Cops murdered in terrorist attacks that year but over 200 Algerian civilians slaughtered by the Paris Police on the streets during the demonstrations in October. I didn't think there was a time limit on atrocities and Macrons apology although heartfelt is too little too late in my opinion. In 1995 Jacques Chirac apologised for another shameful period in French history - The deportation of thousands of Jews to the camp's by French police during the occupation. We should remember them all - They deserve to never be forgotten.
and nothing to do with is ridiculous.

Isn’t debate about offering different views, listening to them and discussing them ? Sometimes other people’s opinions may change our s if considered rationally

nifty l agree but the Chirac apology was to the victim's of the atrocity carried out by the French. It was a belated recognition of the part played by France in the Holocaust. He wasn't, and neither was Macron, apologising on the behalf of people who had nothing to do with it or any control over actions that took place decades before. You have missed the point, but you probably chose to.nifty wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 12:00 pmI think that apologising for something that you had no control overOldblueraincoat wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 12:39 am 30 Cops murdered in terrorist attacks that year but over 200 Algerian civilians slaughtered by the Paris Police on the streets during the demonstrations in October. That is a problem with having free will.
BTW. I am not conscious of having a choice.
Edit. How does one calculate the level of probability?
