Not sure if the boss has a daughter, and whenever we speak in the village he seems still to be in charge. But when I was there the 2nd in command was his son, the one whose wedding we were invited to.
Although, as I have related before, I was pushed to the limit of legality when I first started but soon realised that all I had to do was resist and refuse, and nothing more was said. The good state of the lorries was never in question though. I was given a brand new lorry only 6 weeks after I started, not even signwritten and still with WW plates. Maybe if your friend was a local driver he had a series of older, or at least different, lorries.
