Sorry I've arrived on this thread a bit late but having read several of your posts I just want to say that I am thinking of you all and sending you my very best wishes. Take care of yourselves well so that you can take care of your OHs/Partners etc.

We still have plenty of humour with me shuffling backwards holding her right hand (she had a bad fall just over a week ago and her left arm hasn't fully recovered) and I recall the story of my best friend in England a few years ago, told with hilarity by his wife.

She noticed something wrong as they walked towards the town centre and she was worried enough to call 999. They said an ambulance was on its way and asked for their location. But he wouldn't stop walking and stubbornly ploughed ahead so she was giving a running commentary over the phone, 'just past the irnonmongers, no, crossing Abbey road, there's the Cricketers etc.'

Eventually he stopped but rejected any idea of the ambulance until he agreed to speak to the controller and, eventually a deal was struck. He would accept an ambulance ride but only if there were no blues and twos.

The ambulance duly arrived, silently and at a sedate pace, and he deigned to board it.
