Hypocrisy at it's finest re Migrant Crossings

Exactly. They are coming from the EU "zone" and it's the EU the UK should be complaining to, not just France. These poor migrants are being used as pawns. Breaking news on BBC says that France has now cancelled migrant talks with Johnson because of his letter ....

The Channel shipping lanes are very busy and the risk of being run down while crossing these lanes in a tiny craft is extremely high. On top of that, the inflatables are not designed to carry so many people nor are they designed to cross the Channel.
Last night's news said that well over 1,000 people traffickers had been caught this year, it's the tip of the iceberg.

It's dreadful that these poor people should have to take such huge risks to seek a better life. Their own countries have much to answer for.

A Red Cross representative on the news last night said that 70% of all immigrants who cross by illegal means are ultimately accepted for British Citizenship so why not have proper facilities to allow them to cross and then apply for citizenship.

That's far too sensible Wilbro! It would also mean British asylum workers would have to set up a base near the camps to process people and get safe passage organised. Much better to just keep trying to kick them out of the UK, and even if it means only a few board a plane at goodness knows how much expense - they seem to have money for that.

The traffickers are getting increasingly more agressive too - mostly carrying rifles/guns. Is the problem created by their own countries completely, or by outside interference from other Govts. that has aggravated the situation?

I believe their own countries have a lot to answer for : oppressive governments, religious persecution, treatment of women ... I heard somewhere that most of the drowned refugees were Kurds from Iraq. Kurds have a history of persecution, in Iraq and by the Turks. Who can blame Afghans from wanting to leave a country ruled by a gang of thugs ...

It seems clear to me that Blow Job and Petty are deliberately using intemperate language to stir up feelings against the French so that when the Channel crossing is closed by the fishermen, when the next migrant boat sinks or whatever, the British are primed to hold it all down to the nasty French.
