I don’t think it was acceptable but ‘authorities ‘ are more amenable to objections these day
A few years ago we had a Charge Nurse worked in ED ,he was one for touching female nurses. Then one day a few of the girls got talking and realised it was happening to quite a few of them and was beyond accidental or a bit of fun. Credit where it’s due the trust was brilliant took action straight away ,called the police in etc. He was sent to prison but at the back of your mind is the thought if he could do that to with it ,articulate ,intelligent women was he touching patients who couldn’t complain

As a man I find it worrying today as to what I can say to a lady without causing offence. I have said to lady friends how nice they look or, your hair looks nice, you look great in that dress etc. Ladies please advise do you regard any of this as harassment or disturbing in any way? Serious question.

That, rabbit, is a compliment & I am always grateful to receive one. I would reply saying how nice/kind it was of you to say so.

However, if you said "nice pair" or "sexy bum in those shorts" I would definitely take offence.

If you would say it to an elderly maiden aunt you'll be safe!!
