Bike in top pic looks like a later version of my 1969 V7 Special.

Hotrodder, I still had a jar of car polish left and here is the result. No need to repaint.

I was wondering if they left the springs out of that one. He certainly was bouncing up and down during the drive. Reminded my of my mowing sessions now that the moles have taken over.

'Some people call this car an old banger', Cees (80) uses his MGB Tourer for what it was intended: driving. In the early 1970s, Cees Verstraate bought his dream car: a 1968 MGB Tourer. Since then, the convertible has been his constant companion and the source of countless stories. One of them is about a holiday to the Czech Republic. His mate (no, not this one...) was behind the wheel when the motorway suddenly ended and a sharp bend followed. The car skidded and started to spin. Cees laughs when he thinks back on it. ‘We were lucky there was nothing on the verge.’
His love for the MGB began during his bachelor days. A friend drove one and Cees thought it was a beautiful car, but far too expensive. He himself had his eye on a Triumph Spitfire: just as sporty, but more affordable. However, things turned out differently.

Over the past 52 years, he has done a lot of work on the car. Not just minor repairs, but complete engine overhauls. ‘I had to replace the first engine after just one year. And that happened several times after that. Maybe it has something to do with my driving style.’ Will he ever be able to part with his MGB? His answer is resolute: ‘No. The car will have to say goodbye to its owner.’

Keep them rolling.

I have a special fondness for the MGB. I had a GT for a while and found it to be a very easy drive, comfortable no rattles and very predictable. At the time I wanted more power, and moved on. I wish I still had it today. Much more reliable and fixable than the high tech rubbish we are forced to drive these days.
