Interestingly Enedis we’re flying very low over this area yesterday afternoon surveying local overhead lines. The majority of the village has underground lines but as they move into the countryside they return overhead.

The farmers have been doing a huge amount to help, particularly to ensure the pompiers are topped up with water.

California, Los Angeles, January 2025: high-voltage overhead transmission lines are a major focus of ongoing investigations into the devastating wildfires. Eyewitness accounts, video evidence, and lawsuits suggest electrical sparks from transmission infrastructure may have ignited the blazes during high winds.

Thats why ENEDIS and everybody else carry out inspections of their grids to anticipate outages. They use drones, helicopters or infrared thermography. Detecting vegetation that is too close to power lines to prevent sparks. And trying to identify hotspots, temperature anomalies on cables, high-voltage insulators and pylons. Preventive maintenance was not the strongest point in LA county....
